Refurbishing our "Noah's Ark" in South Africa

The past year in particular has been busy for Noah's Ark as it continued with its refurbishment and expansion works.

It's now home to some 18 children, some with HIV/AIDS, while also providing day care for 14 others of whom some are also HIV infected. All are aged up to 6 years old. In addition to caring for children living with HIV/AIDS, Noah's Ark also helps the neglected, the vulnerable and those living with grandparents or child-headed families.

Renovating works have included painting and decorating, electrical re-wiring, provision of new stoves and cupboarding and the re-siting of toilets.

The big old house was originally laid out as a 4 bedroom dwelling with a dining room, sunroom, lounge, kitchen, two bathrooms and one inside toilet. Outside, other buildings provided 3 classooms, one shower, and one bathroom with toilet.

It's now been reconfigured to meet the children's needs.....as 5 bedrooms...a lounge/dining/kitchen area...with separate toilet and bathing areas for the boys and girls. The sunroom has become the new kitchen.
